Chasewater HouseChasewater House is located in Worcestershire and provides four placements for boys up to 17, of whom there are concerns regarding sexually inappropriate behaviour. Chasewater provides a medium to long-term therapeutic option, in a homely and nurturing environment with a strong emphasis on quality basic care. There is an initial 12-week assessment undertaken by the psychology team including emotional wellbeing, social wellbeing, presenting areas of concern and historic sexualised behaviour/sexual offending. This includes formal psychometric testing and guided clinical observations from staff. The assessment is used to guide Behaviour Support Plans, treatment programmes and risk assessments. Individual therapy sessions take a cognitive behavioural perspective and are designed to support understanding and coming to terms with historic behaviour and personal experiences, as well as to and to develop skills to manage future situations differently. Intervention focuses not only on sexualised behaviours, but also other areas of more general difficulties e.g. anger management. Chasewater also works with young people with co-morbid issues such as mild learning disabilities, autism, non-sexualised offending, oppositional disorders etc. Chasewater offers high staffing levels, access to special education at Marlowe School, work towards family re-integration and preparation for independent living. |
