Hazel Court |
||||
Hazel Court is a new and exciting project for Casicare, providing high quality care and support packages for young people 16 +, leaving care and with complex needs. The project has been developed by taking into account the young people’s needs and views, and working extensively with young people in residential care, children’s rights and commissioning bodies for over fifteen years. Hazel Court focuses on the needs and wishes of the young person making the transition a positive experience. |

One of the things that separates Hazel Court from other semi-independent provisions is the accommodation, they are committed to providing and retaining a quality experience in everything they do. They have looked at the finer details to ensure young people’s time at Hazel Court is both a beneficial and positive experience for their future development. Young people are made to feel welcome and relaxed. The accommodation is set over two floors and vary in design and floor layout. All the apartments have a lounge and dining area, three have full kitchens including hob and oven, whilst all the others have kitchenettes, including their own bathroom, and all have shower facilities that are regulated. There are Communal areas that consist of a lounge with a new wall mounted flat screen television and built in DVD with comfortable seating for young people to relax and unwind with others, a pool table and various games for those who enjoy socialising and having fun. Three training kitchens for those who wish to become the next Gordon Ramsey, or just fancy impressing their friends or family with a nice meal. Hazel Court’s key responsibility is to provide young people with the skills that they will need to live, learn and work independently, this will provide them with the essential skills to successfully move onto independent living. All the young people are actively encouraged to explore options from further education, apprenticeships, courses and employment opportunities that are available to them. Outdoor pursuits is a vital project that runs at Hazel Court offering the young people a chance to experience to learn vital skills, such as Team building, listening, asking for support and guidance, and problem solving. Whilst providing them with both physical and social rewards, individually and within a group. Goal directed activities include backpacking, canoeing, climbing, hiking, hill walking, kayaking, fishing, horse riding and camping trips. These are predominately physical activities, although they are also major factors in building and testing young people both mentally and emotionally, whilst being rewarding. This outdoor pursuit’s project aims to improve the young person’s physical health, increase self-sufficiency, controlled risk taking, building social skills and act as a team building exercise. Being based in the heart of the North of England, Hazel Court has access to excellent transport and road links. I strongly recommend you visit Hazel Court.
